H. Pylori is a corkscrew shaped bacteria that can cause ulcers. Ulcers, left untreated, can cause serious stomach issues including bleeding. So it is important to treat your ulcers and not mask them with over the counter products.

Symptoms

  • Burning pain or sensation in the abdomen
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Frequent burping
  • Bloating
  • Weight loss

If you begin to notice chronic abdominal pain, difficulty swallowing, bloody or tarry stools or vomit that is bloody or dark appearing like coffee grounds seek medical attention immediately.

Treatment

Not all ulcers are caused by the bacteria, but those that are can be treated with a series of specific antibiotics. If you’ve had peptic ulcers or have experienced some of these symptoms, be sure to talk with your AGA gastroenterologist. Make an appointment today so we can determine what the issue is and provide you with answers and support.
